XPLOSION FALL AT YAKAMA IN REGULAR SEASON FINALE, 98-87

YAKIMA, WA , March 25, 2007 – Corey Minnifield scored 26 points for Pittsburgh (10-28), but Yakama (35-13) used a big third quarter push to overcome a halftime deficit and notch a 98-87 victory in the Continental Basketball Association regular season finale for both teams at the Sun Dome.

The Black and Gold played well early against the National Conference champion Sun Kings. The Xplosion tallied the final four points of a tightly played opening quarter to pick up the opening quarter point, 25-21.

Pittsburgh extended its lead in the second quarter, capturing the period, 24-21, and taking a 49-42 lead at intermission.

The lid went on the basket for Pittsburgh in the third quarter. After pushing out to an eight-point edge, 55-47, with 8:09 remaining, Yakama closed the quarter on a 25-7 run to win the quarter 30-13 and take a 72-62 lead with 12 minutes remaining.

Pittsburgh would get within four-points in the final frame, but the Sun Kings used a late spurt to steal the quarter, 26-25, and pick up the 5-2 quarter point victory, 98-87.

Minnifield finished with 26 points and nine rebounds. Dajuan Tate and Rob Griffin added 17 points apiece. The Xplosion were helto to season lows of 30 field goals and 66 attempts and were outrebounded 58-34.

Yakama, which played without the services of top scorer Ralph Homes, received 28 points and nine assists from Eddy Barlow and Galen Young added 22 points and nine helpers. Chris Alexander added a double-double with 11 points and 14 boards.
