PITTSBURGH, October 8, 2007 – The Pittsburgh Xplosion concluded a busy weekend Sunday evening at Kennywood with Magee Women’s Hospital annual Birthday Party Celebration. The Xplosion had a table with information on the team and giveaway items set up at the Around the World basketball game near Kiddieland and the Auto Race.
This promotion is one of our most successful events of the year,” said marketing executive Jordan Pearlman. “We appreciate the support from Magee and look forward to participating in the future.”
Head coach Carlos Knox rode in the event’s parade along with Pearlman.
Earlier in the day, Xplosion dance team head coach Brittany O’Connell got her first look at prospective dancers at tryouts held at Bally’s downtown.
“It was a blast,” O’Connell said. “A lot of great talent came in. We’re looking forward to our second audition to see some more great talent.”
The second dance team tryouts will be held Saturday, October 27.
The weekend kicked off with the Xplosion’s second open tryouts held at Pressley Ridge Saturday and Sunday morning. Knox was impressed with the level of play at the camp.
“These tryouts were much better than the first one,” he said. “I have a pretty good idea who has a legitimate chance to make the team.”
Knox said that he will invite 18 players to training camp, which begins November 5. Ten players will make the Xplosion’s final roster.
The Xplosion open the season November 16 against East Kentucky. For more information on tickets, visit the Xplosion online at www.pittsburghxplosion.com.
