XPLOSION DEFEAT OKLAHOMA, 99-87

PITTSBURGH, December 19, 2007 – Led by Kevin Mickens’ 21 points, the Pittsburgh Xplosion defeated the Oklahoma Cavalry, 99-87, tonight at Mellon Arena. Pittsburgh also swept all seven quarter points from Oklahoma for the second consecutive game.

The Xplosion (8-7) carried a ten point lead into the fourth and pulled away by scoring the first 14 points of the final period. John DeGroat added 18 points for Pittsburgh.

“I’m really proud of our guys tonight for the way we controlled the tempo,” Xplosion head coach Carlos Knox said. “I thought we were bringing the ball up too slow Monday night, but we really emphasized a quicker pace tonight.”

The Xplosion won the first quarter point, and they took a 52-46 lead into the break powered by Mickens’ 15 first half points. Mickens scored the final five points of the second quarter to give Pittsburgh a first half sweep of the Cavalry.

After not sweeping the quarter points in any game last season, the Xplosion have completed the feat three times through 15 games. Pittsburgh concludes its home stand Friday night when the Xplosion host the East Kentucky Miners at the Petersen Events Center. For more information, visit www.pittsburghxplosion.com.
